Screw horror movies, I'll show you what scares ME

Mon Mar 2, 2009, 8:30 PM
So I just discovered this: [link]

Holy ravioli! I've heard of this particularly frightening brand of Twilight fan, and seen some pretty dumb shenanigans on the internet. I'd usually chuckle and not take it very seriously...

...But I think I'm legitimately scared now. Who knew that young people could be so impressionable and unstable? It's just a book. Edward is NOT coming to whisk them away (especially if he's so creepily obsessed with Bella, and also NOT REAL), and they need to move on with their lives.

*shiver* Honestly, Edward Cullen just reminds me of Stanley from A Streetcar Named Desire. a comparison which... I've actually wanted to draw for a while now. XD maybe if I find the time.

DISCLAIMER OR SOMETHING: I am very well aware that there are a number of rather civil fans of Twilight. To them I say THANK YOU and GOOD JOB. Keep up the sanity, folks, we need you. I don't have any personal issues with the books or Ms. Meyer. However, I am pretty disappointed in the people who are such die-hard, DELUSIONAL fans that they'd literally threaten (and try) to kill people for not liking the books....

..........I think I'm going to have nightmares. o__o

It's...WOW. It's a freakin' BOOK, what the hell.

I now fear openly glaring at the Twilight section in Borders, and this makes me sad, as doing such is quite fun. x[

Why...why are people so STUPID? >_<

When all you need is a happy thought, just remember...the one thing you shouldn't think about when you need a happy thought is how meaningless your life and accomplishments are in the grand scheme of things! :3

#1 happy thought: I'm not dead yet!

Which is why you're watching YYH? Good idea.

I enjoy pissing them off, myself. I love arguing. :3

...Oh jeez. I knew people took things a little bit too far, but... Jesus. It's just a book.

I wonder, is there something about the book itself that encourages this kind of fanaticism? Does anything about the story suggest that it's okay to assault people (with ACID IN THE FACE) just for having a different opinion from you?

Haha, rampant fanaticism.

Well, when I fill in the "watching" field, it's usually with something I've been watching lately and not.. right at that particular moment. But I guess it still applies, yeah. It's long and I've seen it before, so it's good to put on while I'm working on school art projects...

And while I too might have enjoyed arguing with someone about Twilight, I don't exactly want to be physically assaulted for my opinion. ABOUT A FICTION BOOK. o_o...

Yeah, I'm probably going to subconsciously give all things Twilight an even wider berth now.

I wonder if stuff like this happens with other fandoms. (probably does... I just wonder what they are...)

I know, I'm gonna be all paranoid at bookstores now. I GUESS some people might be exaggerating but... can you really make this shit up? *shiver*

I have wondered the same thing, actually. Some of the people in the stories just seem to SNAP and fly into a blind rage from very little provocation... maybe Twilight is popular among the mentally unstable by some weird coincidence. Or maybe there's a weird evil incantation written somewhere in there than only effects some people or... ffff I dunno, it's just scary.

If I ever get an address or something, I might be tempted to write Stephanie Meyer and politely ask her to make some kind of public announcement asking her fans to stop 'tarding out.
